Sustainable energy for an innovative future - HIS invests in a photovoltaic system with battery storage

écrit parRebecca EtteNouveauté

At HIS, continuous progress is not only limited to products and processes, but starts with the way our production is operated. Sustainability and efficiency are central values that play an important role not only in product development, but also in the overall company strategy. For this reason, in 2023 we decided to install an additional PV system with a suitable battery storage to make our production processes even more environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

Renewable energy for reliable production

For the smooth operation of our production processes, a reliable and stable energy supply is essential. With our photovoltaic system, we generate more energy annually than we actually consume. This surplus energy is not only produced in an environmentally friendly way, but also completely obtained from renewable sources without emissions - an important step towards climate-friendly production.

Using energy when it is needed - thanks to battery storage.

What makes our system special is the HISbatt battery storage system, our own in-house developed PV battery storage solution. This allows the generated electricity to be used even when the sun is not shining. In addition, the battery storage can compensate for grid fluctuations and ensure a constant, reliable energy supply. In this way, we not only make an active contribution to environmental protection, but also create an even more flexible and secure energy supply for our company.

Advantages: Cost savings, independence, and CO2 reduction.

The decision to invest in a photovoltaic system with battery storage offers numerous advantages. On the one hand, self-generated energy enables cost savings and independence from rising electricity prices. On the other hand, by actively using renewable energy sources, it contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions and makes an important contribution to climate protection. This sustainable solution is not only an investment in the future of the location but also a long-term step towards greater self-sufficiency and efficiency.

Efficient energy management and optimization of energy flows.

In order to further optimize the use of the generated energy, an intelligent energy management system (HIS-EMS) is also used. This system monitors the energy flows in the company and ensures that the generated energy is distributed dynamically and according to demand. This way, it can be ensured that there is always sufficient energy available when needed, while energy consumption is efficiently controlled.

Using more energy on site - reducing costs

Another advantage of the system lies in the possibility of using more of the self-generated energy directly on-site, instead of feeding it into the power grid. This helps to avoid high costs for peak loads and reduce overall energy expenses. By storing the generated energy in the battery storage, availability can be increased while reducing dependence on external electricity supplies.

Note on the company structure

This post was originally published under the brand HIK GmbH. Since the merger of HIK GmbH and HIS Renewables GmbH, both companies are now operating together under HIS Technology GmbH. The business areas are now operated under the names HIS Industries (formerly HIK Solutions) for industrial and cabling solutions, and HIS Renewables for solar and energy solutions. Therefore, earlier company and brand names may still be used in this post.
