HISbox® Residential – combiner box for residential rooftop systems
The HISbox® Residential is standard-compliant, quickly ready for use and, depending on the variant, already fully wired. It integrates surge protection and suitable connections for all common inverters. For less effort on the construction site and greater safety during installation.
Ready for use
Available at short notice and designed for fast installation. This keeps the effort on site noticeably low and your team makes rapid progress with the installation work.
Compatible
The HISbox® Residential is compatible with all common inverter manufacturers, including SMA, Huawei, Fronius, SolarEdge and Sungrow. Plug-&-play variants with inverter-specific connectors are available directly.
Durable
With protection rating up to IP65, UV resistance and an integrated pressure compensation valve against condensation, the HISbox is reliable for indoor and outdoor installation.
Which HISbox® suits my project?
Plug-&-play: Less installation time on the roof, fewer sources of error.
The plug-&-play variant is fully pre-wired at the factory. Industrial manufacturing and the closed enclosure ensure minimal contact resistance and reliable operation. The inverter-specific connectors are located outside the box, and mounting accessories are already included.
Flex variant: The type of connection depends on your cable routing.
The flex variant combines a modular connection system with cable glands. You decide on a project basis whether to use PV connectors or flying leads – allowing you to take account of cable routes and space conditions on site, for example in cramped conditions or where cables have already been laid.
Functions of the HISbox®
Surge protection
SPD type 2 or type 1+2 protects the system against lightning strikes and transient overvoltages. Optionally with remote signalling.
Designed for 1000 V DC
Rated voltage and rated insulation voltage are 1000 V DC and are matched to all common residential string inverters.
Flexibly scalable
The HISbox® Residential covers 1 to 12 MPPTs with 1 to 6 strings each. This allows it to adapt precisely to the plant size and the inverter.
Safely dimensioned
Max. 20 A per string and max. 60 A total current ensure reliable operation even at high yields.
Robust enclosure
The GRP or polycarbonate enclosure achieves protection ratings IP54 to IP65, impact resistance IK08 and UV resistance.
Safely insulated
Protection class II, fully insulated, with GRP enclosure. Earthing requirements are defined for each project.

HU Backup Box: the PV system keeps running even during a power failure
If the public grid fails, the PV system does not automatically have to stop. The HU Backup Box is installed on the AC side and uses integrated power management to control which loads are supplied. Automatic load shedding protects the system if the available power is insufficient. The box is available in single-phase (20 A or 50 A) and three-phase (up to 50 A) versions and is compatible with inverters from Fronius, SMA, Huawei, Kaco, Goodwe and Sungrow.

Suitable HISbox® variants are available for inverters from SMA, Huawei, Fronius, SolarEdge, Sungrow and other manufacturers – as a plug-&-play solution with pre-assembled connectors. Our type overview shows which variant suits your inverter
With the HU Backup Box. The switch box is used on the AC side and is available in single-phase and three-phase versions (up to 50 A). With power management and automatic load shedding, it keeps the PV system running even during a power failure. Variants are available for inverters from Fronius, SMA, Huawei, Kaco, Goodwe and Sungrow.
Installation is possible indoors and outdoors in a location protected from rain and direct sunlight. The HISbox® operates at ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +55 °C and at altitudes up to 2,000 m, peaking at 4,000 m. At high temperatures and above 2,000 m, power reductions (derating) apply.
The HISbox® Residential is designed for 1000 V DC, up to 20 A per string and 60 A total current. The HISbox® C&I is available for commercial and industrial systems, and the HISbox® Utility Scale for solar parks with 1500 V DC.
